Welcome - Holy Eucharist Services, Sunday 10:00 a.m.
We are the Episcopal branch of the body of Christ, and a member of the world wide Anglican Communion.  We are an inclusive fellowship with open doors for all to come to, and know, Jesus.  The symbols of our patron saint, St. David, are the daffodil, dove, and leek.  So, if you are happy, peaceful, or just a little pungent, we welcome you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

St. David's is a remarkable small country parish with a long history within the community of Barneveld, NY, located in the Town of Trenton, NY.  Our parish is geographically broad with young and elderly families alike.  We welcome all.  We are a people and life affirming church.  Children may attend our service, or attend our Sunday School,  provided during the service.  We are also proud of our Pre-K School, which is unique for a church of our size.  You can learn more by going to the Pre-K navigation button.

THANKSGIVING - EVENING PRAYER - 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2018.

Worship

“Worship is the heart of our life together, all the rest is for the purpose of making that possible, meaningful and uplifting and it is worship that equips us for living out our life in Christ in the world around us.” - Rev. E. Heather Benson, Parish Priest.

  • We celebrate the Holy Eucharist, Sunday, at 10:00 a.m.

  • Holy Days of Obligation & other events at 5:00 p.m., or as scheduled.

  • All are welcome to worship with us and take communion.

We are a liturgical and sacramental faith.  Our service includes singing - lead by our organist, prayers, readings, and liturgy from the Bible and The Book of Common Prayer.  Service bulletins are provided as a guide to the order of service for hymns and liturgy.

An Invitation - If you are visiting for the first time and/or the Episcopal Church is a new experience, someone in our congregation will gladly sit with you and guide you through our service.  We are casual in attendance. There is no need to wear a tie, unless you really want too.  Unlike some restaurants, we will not cut off your tie and pin it to the wall.

Parish LIfe

The rich traditions of the Episcopal Church provides for many ways in which individuals can participate in the life of our parish. We welcome the opportunity to include people where they have an active interest.  Our parish community includes Eucharistic ministers, readers for scripture, prayer, acolytes, vestry members, altar guild, Sunday School, stewardship, hosting social functions, and fundraisers.  Some functions require training before being placed on a schedule, but information is always available through our priest or other members of the congregation.

Coffee Hour - After every Sunday service, we join one another in our Parish Hall for treats and conversation.  Please join us.  You'll have an opportunity to meet members of our parish and learn more about St. David's.

We maintain an active prayer list, which is offered to God during our service.  If you have intercessions for which you would like our congregation to remember in pray, for yourself or for others, please contact us by submitting the form on the Contact tab.

Caring for others

Caring for others is important to St. David's as we live out our Christian lives.  We support various concerns and fundraisers as need arises in our community and the wider world.  An important local organization that we support with giving is Foothills Rural Community Ministry of Holland Patent, NY., along with Sara's Pet Pantry.  Both ministries work to meet the needs of people and pets with food pantries and other concerns.  You can help support these worthy services by contacting, donating, or serving at foothillsruralcommunityministry.org.

St. David's also supports the ministries and aide work by Episcopal Relief & Development Fund.  Last year we supported aide to hurricane and other victims of disaster.  You can help, support alongside the parishioners of St. Davids, by going to www.episcopalrelief.org

FUNDRAISER - Foothills, Collecting & Reverse Advent.

If you are familiar with an Advent Calendar, then you know that for each day of Advent you open the day on the calendar are take a candy.  A Reverse Advent is about giving each day of Advent.  Each day of the week you place a non-perishable food item in a box and bring it to the St. David’s Parish Hall, supporting the important work of Foothills Rural Community Ministry with your donation.

FUNDRAISER - St. David’s, Handmade King Size Quilt.

One of our parishioners has donated an handmade quilt for a fundraising event for the benefit of St. David’s.  Monies raised will go to the general fund of St. David’s so that it can continue to minister and serve in our local community.  Raffle tickets are now on sale at St. David’s, and from our individual congregants.  Raffles are $2 each or 3 for $5.  The drawing is on Sunday, January 20, 2019, following the 10:00 a.m. morning Mass. Ticket holders need not be present to win, but warmly welcome you to attend Sunday service and then remain with us for the drawing to follow.   Until we post a photo of the quilt, please feel free to come by St. David’s to preview this beautiful and wonderfully made quilt.   Our contact person for this fundraiser is Sharon Nash, 315-896-6305.

Children - Sunday School is offered beginning at 10:00 am.  We are using the Good News Curriculum.  All children are welcome.  Sunday School is not offered during the summer season corresponding with the school break.   If children would rather stay with their families during Mass, they are welcomed to do so.  However, children from Sunday School do rejoin their families in the nave of the church for Holy Communion.

FUNDRAISER - Emmaus House, Christmas Shoebox.

Enrollment

If you are interested in preschool at St. David's, please contact St. David's at 315-896-6707.  Our staff will discuss enrollment dates, class times, tuition, and any questions you may have about the student's days.  Classes tend to fill up quickly. The three year old children are given preference when returning to the four year old class.  Also, for parents that volunteer as a class aide, reductions in tuition are offered, so be sure to discuss with us how to participate at The Little Acorn School.

AGES AND Learning

St. David's preschool ages are from ages 3 and 4 years old.  The staff is vetted through the safe church training program of the Diocese of Central New York of the Episcopal Church.  Our teacher , Mrs. Nash is a long time resident and has been the teacher for many years. The preschool program is not a religious program of the Episcopal Church.  All children are welcomed regardless of religious affiliation.  Our grades are full and fill up quickly.  The children are fully engaged with activities for learning, socialization, and fun in a safe and personable environment.

As examples of what children are learning at The Little Acorn School, the four year old class is learning to write the letters of the alphabet and their names.  In the three year old class, they are learning to count to 10; while the four year old class are counting to 30.  All ages have continued to learn their shapes and colors.

Fun activities are frequently planned to suite the season including a Halloween Party, a visit from Santa Clause, and Valentine's Day.  During Winter, children have been treated to a sled day on church property.
